In 2017 I went for 10 days trip to Rajasthan. I visited various charming places of this historical state such as Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Pushkar and Jaisalmer. I missed the golden opportunity to capture videos and create a travel vlog for my Youtube channel at that time. Back then I had zero knowledge about creating vlog videos.

But today I was thinking, why not I share my experience in the form of a blog post and here I am. I am feeling very excited to share the details of my visits to those beautiful places with you all. I hope you will enjoy reading the article as much as I enjoyed writing it. So without any further ado, let’s get started!

People often ask me, “Why is travelling your hobby?

Well, whenever I feel stressed or disgusted with my hectic schedule, I extract myself out of from the barriers of my work life and go for a short trip at least once a year. Travelling helps me in rejuvenating my senses with fresh energy.

Whenever I step out of my home for a vacation, I leave a small part of myself with the travel diaries and get to learn more about myself. Going on road trips, exploring new cuisines and places and learning the culture is what I get addicted to. Anyway, there are a whole lot of things to share regarding my hobby, I will share in my next blog. But for now, let’s stick to my experience on the trip to Rajasthan.

So the journey started with Jaipur and ends in Jaisalmer.

Jaipur

I went to Jaipur from Delhi with my family by flight and it took approximately 30 minutes to reach the destination. When I arrived at a colourful city I was in for a bit of shock. Of course, it was a pleasant shock, don’t get confused. The part of the shock was how different it was from the image that comes to mind when one imagines Rajasthan. The view was very different from the one which we see in calendars.

We have booked the hotel rooms online as it was an early morning flight. Next morning we went for the local sightseeing tour.

Amber Fort

In Old Jaipur, our first stop is the Amber Fort. It would take approximately an hour to explore the place, although you may choose to stay longer as the fort is really massive.

The majestic Amber Fort was constructed with the stunning marbles and red sandstones 200 years before Jaipur was established. These days tourists can explore the fort sitting on the back of an elephant but we have chosen to walk and see the place. Amber Fort is considered to be the famous sightseeing destination in Jaipur and you should not miss it.

Hawa Mahal

Second most beautiful place to see in Jaipur is non-other than Hawa Mahal. However, due to the lack of time, we checked this place just from outside as it is right on the main road.

Anokhi

Our next stoppage was Anokhi. It is a well-known block print textiles. After spending an hour in Amber Fort, we found this place very relaxing. People can buy Rajasthani jewellery and block printing stuff like bed sheets or bed covers. Also, they organize a detailed workshop on block printing where you can learn the basics about it.

Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum

Next place in our list of places was Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum. He was the 10th king of Jaipur. The entire place is delicately carved. People can see the traditional vessels which the Rajputana Kingdom used to use. The place also has a huge dancing area where the professional dancers used to present their dance forms for the king.

Jodhpur

After our one day stay in Jaipur we have travelled to Jodhpur which is the second-largest city in Rajasthan. Jodhpur is also known as the “Blue City” as most of the houses in the old city are painted in Blue. You can see this place in the Movie Shudh Desi Romance.

We visited Umaid Bhawan Palace and Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. These two places are the prime attraction of the city.

After visiting these two places, we booked a cab and went Jaswant Thada. The very first sight will make you fall in love with the place.

After Jaswant Thada, we visited Mandore Gardens which is often ignored by tourists. But you must visit it as there is so much to explore. It has a group of memorials and temples. You can also see high rock terraces where you can enjoy hiking.

Ajmer

The place often come into light because of the famous dargah of “Ajmer Sharif”. And of course, you can explore Shreenathji temple on your way to Ajmer from Jaipur.

After visiting these two places we went to Pushkar and Brahmaji Temple.

Ajmer is a very nice and cosy size for a city and the locals were very friendly be it chaiwalas and shopkeepers. It was a shopkeeper who pointed me out to the shop selling Dal Baati Churma.

Jaisalmer

Our final destination on our trip to Rajasthan was Jaisalmer, the dream destination of many. We boarded intercity express from Jodhpur and reached Jaisalmer by next morning.

The first place we visited in Jaisalmer is Sonar Quila that is built with the yellow sandstone. It was indeed a stunning look of the golden hues of the desert ambience. It would take 30 minutes to see the destination, however, you can stay longer if you wish to.

Our second place in our bucket list is Gadi Sagar Lake. It is a rainwater lake which makes the entire surrounding so calm and relaxing. You can see many temples over there.

The five storeys Tazia Tower was what we have visited next. The stunning tower was built by ancient Muslim artisans which were amazingly designed as well as decorated.

Apart from these prime sightseeing places, we have also visited other sightseeing places such as Deoki Niwas, Patwon ki Haveli, Manak Chowk, Rang Mahal, Jain Temple, Fort Rajwada and Gorbandh Palace.

We have planned a separate day for a visit to the Thar Desert. We were guided by a local guide who took the pleasure of telling us the stories of his region during our journey to the Thar Desert. On our way to Sand Dunes, we visited Kuldhara village which is famous for haunted stories.

After reaching the Thar Desert we took a camel caravan that took an hour of ride around the sand dunes. It was the very first time I did camel safari and I must admit that it was quite impressive. After staying for 3 hours in the desert, we returned to the hotel.

Rajasthan is a state that is used to tourists from all over and is, therefore, a very tourist-friendly destination. It will always be the most memorable trip for me. Have you visited Rajasthan? If yes, what was your experience like?
